Masterminds for the Piano Teacher

Master Minds Explained (story time!)

A little over year ago, I was unfamiliar with the concept of a Master Mind group. But what I did know was that I wanted a sense of community in my piano teaching journey. While I had local friends through associations, our interactions were mainly limited to meetings where we focused on organizational tasks rather than discussing our own teaching studios and challenges.

So, I decided to work with a coach, which initially seemed promising.

And let me be clear, coaches are fantastic.

However, the experience didn't quite meet my expectations because the group I joined was too large, making it hard to connect with anyone.

I didn't feel like my concerns were truly heard, and despite investing a significant amount of money, I didn't see much improvement in my situation. If anything, I ended up feeling more confused and created additional issues for myself.

So now what?
As I continued my quest for clarity, I reached out to more teachers and even attended the NCKP (which was ahhhh-mazing!).

Through these experiences, I found myself surrounded by a network of incredible people. The more I connected with them, the more clear it became to me that community was the missing piece.

The teachers I regularly communicated with were a treasure trove of experience and wisdom. The value their friendships brought far surpassed the thousands of dollars I had spent on my coach.

Cue the magic of MasterMinds and Peer Advisory Councils

So after some digging, I stumbled upon the concept of Master Minds. I thought, why not give it a try?

In January, I decided to form a group. It's been 8 weeks now, and the growth, education, accountability, feedback, and clarity I've gained have surpassed my wildest expectations.

When you put all of it together, the years of experience that myself and the other teachers bring to the table exceed 100 years! Just pause and let that sink in. The wealth of insights we possess from our diverse experiences and approaches is truly remarkable.

Let me know if you have been looking to join a Master Mind! We have a summer group getting together with more details soon.
